Our new facility in Indianapolis will have approximately 60 employees specialized in the manufacturing and worldwide distribution of ground power supply system, pre-conditioned air equipment and customer solutions in the field of airport equipment. As a specialist, we see ourselves as offering our customers system solutions that are environmentally friendly and at once optimize the profitability of a wide variety of work processes.

  • Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary and Your Tasks

  • To provide mechanical engineering design expertise and support to the Engineering Team for delivery of both product and project related engineering solutions.
  • Be part of the team, to strive for constant self-improvement and as you build your skill you will encourage those around you, such that we can constantly improve on delivering product solutions to our customer.
Salary Range: 95k-109k depending on experience 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Perform mechanical engineering design functions always utilizing best practice by researching existing solutions & from senior engineers, documentation searches for Standards and where necessary using robust Engineering Design 1st Principles. These solutions should be well presented, documented, accurate, peer review checked and approved by a senior member of the team.
  • Where gaps are seen in DABICO’s knowledge the engineer will strive to fill these gaps and seek approval from the wider engineering team when presenting a solution, including publishing standards and templates to the EPDM database
  • Observe DABICO’S internal design & documentation process standards.
  • Achieve expected quality standards and delivery times of product in accordance with contractual obligations and to DABICO standards.
  • Identify, propose solutions, and escalate any technical or project related risks.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain DABICO’S product documentation, including manuals and bills of materials as required.
  • Conception and development of new designs.
  • Writing of specifications for equipment design including proprietary purchased components.
  • Due to our global nature, at times DABICO will have conference calls outside of normal business hours, these are planned in advance & need to be attended.  Foreign and Domestic travel for periods determined by customer requirements, both internal and external. Travel where possible is planned in advance and in accordance with the company’s travel policy.
  • Research & Development of new and existing products and other products which DABICO wish to develop.
  • Contribute to the discovery and collection of information for new and innovative materials, processes, and functionality. Any other duties that we reasonably require you to do to enable the running of an efficient and effective team environment.
  • These functions may change from time to time to reflect the changing requirements of your position and our business needs.

Your Experience and Skills

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge on mechanical design, basic mechanical engineering properties and strength of materials concepts.
  • Project management
  • Knowledge of electrotechnical systems with basic controls preferred
  • EPDM, SolidWorks, CAD
  • Familiar with GD&T standards
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or relevant field required
  • 4+ years’ manufacturing experience
  • 4+ years’ design experience
  • High level of organization, with the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously
  • Able to communicate effectively in English orally and written
  • Ability to execute tasks in an efficient manner without sacrificing quality
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and procedure
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and able to travel 20%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to work in front of the computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to use the stairs as needed and must be able to work in a loud fast paced warehouse as needed and as required to ensure workflow
  • Ability to demonstrate active participation of observing company policies and procedures • Ability to lift 25lb or less
  • Travel 20% to sites, suppliers, and other customers
